Origami Bukuro
Origami Bukuro
The design for the Origami Bukuro came about during my time at home with my daughters during the 2020 pandemic when we folded copious amounts of origami.
This bag stores origami papers on the outside, while providing a place to store your creations on the inside. Once the bag is filled, you can either string your origami to make garlands, or take a photo before recycling your work.
We love using Origami Bukuro (literally” folding paper bag” in Japanese) in our home, but I imagine it would be most loved in museums, doctor and dentist offices, libraries, schools, credit union lobbies and automotive maintenance shop waiting areas.
Origami Bukuro is made from origami paper and Japanese paper rice bags, stitched with cotton thread and then treated with kakishibu.
Kakishibu is a natural lacquer made from persimmons which gives the paper the leathery feel of a not quite dried out autumn leaf and makes the paper durable and water resistant.
